How to tell Window not to keep history of recently opened documents?

In Window XP operating system, if you open a document like a Microsoft office word document, an image, an audio or video file… a shortcut to it will be showed in the “My Recent Documents” from the Start menu. Sometimes, you don’t want window to show it because it’s may be your secret information. To prevent Window from creating and displaying shortcuts to recently opened documents you can follow some simple steps below.

From Start menu click Run, then type gpedit.msc

Run window

In the Group Policy window, expand the User Configuration on the left side, continue by expanding the Administrative Templates, then choose Start Menu and Taskbar Desktop

Now, on the right side, find the row Do not keep history of recently opened documents and right click on it, then choose Properties

Group Policy window

From the Setting tab in the Properties window, choose Enabled option and click OK to finish. Now Window will not create or display shortcuts to your recently opened documents. Enjoy.
