How to downgrade your Paypal account type?

Paypal

If you have a Premier or Business Paypal account and you want to downgrade your Paypal account to Personal account type, what should you do? The answer is you should contact Paypal and request them to do that for you.

Just login to your account and click the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page. In the next page you will click the Contact Customer Service link in the Help by Email. Then choose My Account for topic and Changing Account Type for the subtopic. In the question summary you should type a short sentence such as “Seeking for assistance” or “Need an assistance”, click Continue to go to the next page. In the next page you choose “I want to downgrade my account type.” and click Continue again. In the message content, you can type something such as tell them why you want to downgrade your account and click Continue to finish.

Paypal will contact you after 2 or 3 days. This is the email I received from Paypal:

Thank you for contacting PayPal.

Hello my name is Karl, I am sorry to hear about the situation regarding

your issue, and understand your frustration and concern over this issue.

I am happy to assist you with your questions. We regret the delay in

responding to your service request and it is our intention to reply to

our customers within 24 hours. However, due to an increase in email

volume, our response time has been delayed and we are diligently working

to reply to each email received. Thank you for your understanding and

patience.

We appreciate that you tried our PayPal Business/Premier account. Per

your request, your PayPal account has been downgraded from a

Business/Premier to a Personal account. You are only permitted to

downgrade your account one time. If you upgrade your account in the

future, it will remain a Business/Premier account for the lifetime of

the account.

The ability to receive unlimited credit or debit card funded payments is

reserved for Premier and Business accounts. Personal accounts can

receive a limited number of credit or debit card funded payments per

year and are assessed a transaction fee. To view the fees associated

with Personal accounts accepting credit or debit card funded payments,

log in to your account and click the “Fees” link. To view your Personal

account limits, log in to your account and click the “View Limits” link.

For Personal accounts:

Credit or debit card payments for non-eBay items are held as

“Unclaimed” until the recipient:

· Accepts it using their Personal account

· Upgrades to a Business or Premier account

· Denies it

Credit or debit card payments for eBay items are held as

“Unclaimed” until:

· The recipient upgrades to a Business or Premier account

· The payment expires and the funds are returned to the sender’s

card

If you receive a card funded payment for an eBay item, you must be

willing to upgrade your Personal account. Refusal to accept a payment

after the auction has ended falls under eBay’s Seller Non-Performance

policy.

All payments received from eBay, auctions, and Website Payments Standard

buttons (e.g. Buy Now Buttons, PayPal Shopping Cart, or Subscriptions

payments), will be limited to the equivalent of $500.00 USD per month.

If you exceed your monthly receiving limit, you will be given the option

to accept or deny the payment. If you accept the payment, your Personal

account will be upgraded to a Premier account.

Thank you for using PayPal for your online payment needs.

Sincerely,

Karl Angelo

Remember that you can only downgrade your account one time. If you upgrade your account to Premier or Business the next time, you can’t downgrade it to Personal again.
